Giuseppe Tornatore
Giuseppe Tornatore (born 27 May 1956) is an Italian film director and screenwriter. In a career spanning over 30 years he is best known for directing and writing drama films such as '' Everybody's Fine'', ''The Legend of 1900'', '' Malèna'', '' Baarìa'' and ''The Best Offer''. His most noted film is '' Cinema Paradiso'', for which Tornatore won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He has also directed several advertising campaigns for Dolce & Gabbana. Bagheria
Bagheria (; scn, Baarìa ) is a town and ''comune'' in the Metropolitan City of Palermo in Sicily, Italy, located approximately 10km to the east of the city centre. Etymology According to some sources, the name ''Bagheria'' (by way of old Sicilian ''Baarìa'') originates from the Phoenician term ''Bayharia'' meaning "land that descends toward the sea." Other sources claim that it derives from the Arabic ''Bāb al-Gerib'', or "windy gateway." However, the most plausible explanation is that it derives from Arabic ', meaning 'of the sea, marine'. ''The Star Maker'' ( it, L'uomo delle stelle) is a 1995 Italian film. It was produced by Rita Cecchi Gori, Vittorio Cecchi Gori, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, while the title role was played by Sergio Castellitto. It stars Gérard Depardieu as a reclusive writer and Roman Polanski as a police detective. Synopsis Onoff (Depardieu) is a famous writer who is now a recluse. ''Everybody's Fine'' ( it, Stanno tutti bene) is a 1990 Italian drama film directed by Giuseppe Tornatore who co-wrote the screenplay with Tonino Guerra and Massimo De Rita. It won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury (Giuseppe Tornatore) and was nominated for Golden Palm (Giuseppe Tornatore) at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. Franco Cristaldi (3 October 1924 – 1 July 1992) was an Italian film producer, credited with producing (or co-producing) feature films from the 1950s to the 1990s. Career In 1946 Cristaldi founded ''Vides Cinematografica'' in Turin. This production company initially produced short and documentary films, and would later be renamed to ''Cristaldifilm'' in the 1980s. In the 1950s, Cristaldi changed his attention to feature films and moved to Rome.
