''Fennia'' is a biannual peer-reviewed open access scientific journal published by the Geographical Society of Finland. It covers all aspects of geography. The journal was established in 1889. Geography
Geography (from Ancient Greek ; combining 'Earth' and 'write', literally 'Earth writing') is the study of the lands, features, inhabitants, and phenomena of Earth. Geography is an all-encompassing discipline that seeks an understanding of Earth and world, its human and natural complexities—not merely where objects are, but also how they have changed and come to be. While geography is specific to Earth, many concepts can be applied more broadly to other Astronomical object, celestial bodies in the field of planetary science. Geography has been called "a bridge between natural science and social science disciplines." Origins of many of the concepts in geography can be traced to Greek Eratosthenes of Cyrene, who may have coined the term "geographia" (). Emerging Sources Citation Index
The Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) is a citation index produced since 2015 by Thomson Reuters and now by Clarivate. According to the publisher, the index includes "peer-reviewed publications of regional importance and in emerging scientific fields". The ESCI is accessible through the Web of Science, together with other Clarivate indexes. As of June 2021, all journals indexed in ESCI are also included in the Journal Citation Reports. While these journals still did not receive an impact factor until the next year, they did contribute citations to the calculation of other journals' impact factors. In July 2022, Clarivate announced that journals in the ESCI obtain an impact factor effective from JCR Year 2022 first released in June 2023. It covers geographical topics of interest to Norwegian researchers giving equal weight to human and natural geography. It was established in 1926 as successor of the ''Norsk Geografisk Aarbog'' ("Norwegian Geographical Yearbook"), which was published from 1889 to 1921. The editor-in-chief at one point was Kerstin Potthoff of University of Bergen. In 2012, Michael Jones was the editor, and he had started in 2006. He was based at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, in Trondheim. He announced that as of 2012 the journal would change from publishing four issues per year to five, and that the number of editors had increased to four. The Free Journal Network is an index of open access scholarly journals, specifically for those that do not charge article processing charges. Criteria The network founded in early 2018 in order to promote free, open access journals, a publishing model that is sometimes called diamond or platinum open access. Such journals are typically smaller than equivalent commercial journals (often supported by academic societies).
