The Evolution Championship Series, commonly known as Evo, is an annual esports event that focuses exclusively on fighting games. The tournaments are completely open and use the double elimination format. As with Super Battle Opera, contestants travel from all over the world to participate, most notably from Japan. The Compaq Evo is a series of business PCs (desktop and laptop) and thin clients made by Compaq and Hewlett-Packard following the 2002 merger. The Evo brand was introduced by Compaq in May 2001 as a business-oriented brand. It replaced the Deskpro brand of desktops and the Armada brand of notebooks. Evo is the name that Steve Vai has given to his primary stage and recording guitar, an Ibanez JEM7VWH. It was co designed by Vai and guitar manufacturer Ibanez in 1987. 'Evo' still retains identical specifications to the production model, with several aesthetic modifications. History The Ibanez JEM line is considered Vai's signature guitar line. Around 1993 he recalls that he wanted to design a "Jem that had a classic look to it," and out of this came the JEM7VWH. Vai was sent four production models when they came out and started playing them all in an effort to decide which one to use on a longer-term basis. Bill Evo (born February 21, 1954) is an American lawyer and a former professional ice hockey player and executive. Hockey career Evo played major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League with the Peterborough Petes from 1971 to 1974. He was selected by the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League (NHL) in the third round (45th overall) of the 1974 NHL amateur draft, and was also drafted by the Cincinnati Stingers in the second round (22nd overall) of the 1974 WHA Secret Amateur Draft.
