''Ettela'at'' ( fa, اطلاعات, Ettelâ'ât, ) is a Persian language daily newspaper of record published in Iran. It is among the oldest publications in the country, and the oldest running Persian daily newspaper in the world. The paper has a conservative stance and focuses on political, cultural, social and economic news. Until the revolution of 1979, the newspaper was associated with its chief founder Abbas Massoudi (1895-1974). History and profile ''Ettala'at'' was started by Abbas Massoudi in 1926 as a four-page paper and sold nearly 2,000 copies per week. The circulation of the paper was 15,000 copies during the reign of Reza Shah. At the beginning of World War II. the paper was expanded and had eight pages. Ruhollah Khomeini
Ruhollah Khomeini, Ayatollah Khomeini, Imam Khomeini ( , ; ; 17 May 1900 – 3 June 1989) was an Iranian political and religious leader who served as the first supreme leader of Iran from 1979 until his death in 1989. He was the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the leader of the 1979 Iranian Revolution, which saw the overthrow of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and the end of the Persian monarchy. Following the revolution, Khomeini became the country's first supreme leader, a position created in the constitution of the Islamic Republic as the highest-ranking political and religious authority of the nation, which he held until his death. "The Shah Is Gone" ( fa, شاه رفت, Šâh raft) is a headline that appeared on the front cover of the Iranian newspaper ''Ettela'at'' on Tuesday, 16 January 1979, when the Shah left Iran, a few days before the fall of the Pahlavi dynasty and the 2500-year-old Iranian monarchy. The title contains the word ''shah'' (king) instead of ''shahanshah'' (king of kings) to refer to Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, which was very rare during his reign. List Of Newspapers In Iran
The first Iranian newspapers appeared in the mid-19th century during the reign of Naser al-Din Shah. More specifically, the first newspaper in Iran, Kaghaz-e Akhbar (The Newspaper), was launched for the government by Mirza Saleh Shirazi in 1837. By 1907 (the era of the Persian Constitutional Revolution), there were 90 newspapers circulating in Iran. In 1952 under Mohammad Musaddiq's government there were 300 newspapers, including twenty-five dailies. During the 1979 revolution the number of newspapers was 100, of which twenty-three were dailies. As of 2000 there were 23 Persian dailies, three English dailies and one Arabic daily in the country. In the period between 2000 and 2004 a total of 85 newspapers were closed down in Iran. Ahmad Sayyed Javadi
Ahmad Sayyed Javadi ( fa, احمد صدر حاجسیدجوادی; 24 June 1917 – 31 March 2013) was an Iranian lawyer, political activist and politician, who served as interior minister and justice minister. He was the first interior minister after the 1979 revolution in Iran. Early life and education Javadi was born into a devoutly religious family in Qazvin on 24 June 1917. The members of his family were Shiite clergy and merchants. He received a law degree and a PhD in political science. Javadi was the eldest of three brothers. Jahangir Razmi ( fa, جهانگیر رزمی) (b. December 16, 1947 in Arak, Iran) is an Iranian photographer and the author of the entry that won the 1980 Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Photography. His photograph, ''Firing Squad in Iran'', was taken on August 27, 1979 and published anonymously in the Iranian daily ''Ettela'at'', the oldest still running newspaper in Iran. Days later, it appeared on the front pages of numerous newspapers around the world. The photograph was the only anonymous winner of a Pulitzer Prize in the 90-year history of the award, as the identity of Razmi as the photographer was not revealed until 2006.
