Escot, Talaton
Escot in the parish of Talaton, near Ottery St Mary in Devon, is an historic estate. The present mansion house known as Escot House is a grade II listed building built in 1837 by Sir John Kennaway, 3rd Baronet to the design of Henry Roberts, to replace an earlier house built in about 1680 by Sir Walter Yonge, 3rd Baronet (1653–1731) of Great House in the parish of Colyton, Devon, to the design of Robert Hooke, which burned down in 1808. Pozzi Escot
Olga Pozzi-Escot Zapata (born 1 October 1933) is a Peruvian-born American composer, music theorist, and faculty member at the New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts. Life Pozzi Escot was born in Lima, Peru, her father was a French professor at the University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru, Marius Emmanuel Pozzi Escot, and her mother was Lucía María Zapata Hurtado. After living in Peru, she went to France. Back in Peru, between 1949 and 1953 she studied at the Academy of Music Sas-Rosay (Lima).Boenke, Heidi M. Hagre l'Escot was a Scottish mercenary captain during the Hundred Years War. He fought for Edward III in 1360, and on the Black Prince's expedition to Castile in 1366. After the Treaty of Brétigny Hagre and his men found themselves unemployed and so become one of the 30 so-called Tard-Venus bandits, that ranged the French country side pillaging towns. His story is mentioned in the Chronicles of Froissart which holds that: Guin de Batefol: he had on his way well two thousand combatants.
