Dongjak
Dongjak District (Dongjak-gu) is one of the 25 '' gu'' that make up the city of Seoul, South Korea. Its name was derived from the Dongjaegi Naruteo Ferry, on the Han River which borders the district to the north. It was the 17th ''gu'' created in Seoul, after being separated from Gwanak District on 1 April 1980. Gwanak District
Gwanak District (Gwanak-gu) is an administrative subdivision (''gu'') of Seoul, South Korea. It lies on the southern skirt of Seoul, bordering Anyang of Gyeonggi Province. The southern border of Gwanak-gu, bordering Anyang, consists of the craggy ridgeline of Gwanaksan (Mt. Gwanak), which dominates the local geography. Originally a part of Siheung, Gyeonggi, it was transferred to Seoul with the rapid expansion of the National Capital Area and its population growth in 1960s. Lee Su-jin (politician)
Lee Su-jin (Korean: 이수진, born 3 November 1969) is a South Korean judge and politician. Early life Lee was born in Jeonju, North Jeolla in 1969. Her birthplace was usually rumoured as Nonsan, despite of her denial. She grew up with a poor family, where she used to share a single room with 4 siblings. She lost her father when she was 11 years old. One day, her mother, who earned a living as a socks seller, slipped on an ice and underwent a hip osteonecrosis. Lee, who often cried for this, described her mum's problem on her diary. This story was reported by her primary school teachers to '' North Jeolla Daily''. She later attended Jeonju Sungsim Girls' High School and earned a bachelor's degree in economics at Seoul National University in 1996. Legal career After qualifying for the bar in 1998, Lee graduated from the Judicial Research and Training Institute in 2002. The districts of Seoul are the twenty-five '' gu'' ("districts"; hangeul: 구; hanja: 區) comprising Seoul, South Korea. The ''gu'' vary greatly in area (from 10 to 47 km2) and population (from less than 140,000 to 630,000). Songpa-gu is the most populated, while Seocho-gu has the largest area. Gu are similar to London's or New York's boroughs or Tokyo's 23 special wards. Each gu's government handles many of the functions that are handled by city governments in other jurisdictions. Soongsil University
Soongsil University (SSU) is the first modern university in Korea, dating its history back to 1897. It was founded under the Christian missionary William M. Baird. The campus is located in 369 Sangdo-ro, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, South Korea. History Soongsil University was founded on October 10, 1897, in Pyongyang as a private school by William M. Baird, a missionary of the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. Board of Foreign Missions. In 1900 the school was developed into an official 4-year junior high school. In October 1901 the school was named ''Soongsil Hakdang'' (, Soongsil Academy). The name ''Soongsil'' roughly means "Revering od( ''soong'') with Truth and Integrity ( ''sil'')".
