Delta County, Colorado
Delta County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado. As of the 2020 census, the population was 31,196. The county seat is Delta. History Delta County was created by the Colorado legislature on February 11, 1883, out of portions of central Gunnison County. The county was named from a delta of arable land at the mouth of the Uncompahgre River, where it flows into the Gunnison River. Geography According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of , of which is land and (0.6%) is water. Egyptian Theatre (Delta, Colorado)
The Egyptian Theatre in Delta, Colorado, United States, is an Egyptian Revival movie house. The 425-seat theater opened in 1928 at the height of the fashion for thematically-designed cinemas. It was designed by Montana Fallis, who also designed the Mayan Theatre in Denver. The Egyptian is notable as one of the first locations for a promotion devised by 20th Century Fox regional manager, Charles Yeager, during the 1930s when business was poor in the small Colorado theaters he managed. " Bank Night" awarded $30 to a random patron once a week. The promotion improved attendance and kept theaters in business. Yeager's pilot program in Colorado was expanded so that by 1936 the promotion was in use at 4000 cinemas in the United States. After years of decline and neglect the theater was restored in the 1990s, reopening in 1997 as a community theater. Colorado State Highway 65
State Highway 65 (SH 65) is a state highway in Colorado that crosses the Grand Mesa. The highway along with a road to Lands End Overlook were designated as the Grand Mesa National Scenic Byway in 1996. SH 65's southern terminus is at SH 92 east of Delta, and its northern terminus is at Interstate 70 (I-70) and U.S. Route 6 (US 6) northeast of Palisade. Route description SH 65 runs , starting at a junction with SH 92 east of Delta. The highway heads north, crossing the Gunnison River, through Orchard City and Cedaredge. The highway then enters Grand Mesa National Forest climbing to the top of Grand Mesa. It then drops down the north side of Grand Mesa, ending at a junction with I-70 northeast of Palisade. State Highway 348 (SH 348) is a state highway immediately southeast of Montrose and Delta counties in Colorado, United States that connects U.S. Route 50 (US 50) in Olathe US 50 in Delta. Route description The route begins at US 50 in the south part of Delta as Eaton Avenue as it begins westward. After crossing a railroad, the highway stops as Eaton Ave as it exits Delta and enters farmland. It then continues southward through large rectangular fields until it meets D Road, where the route abruptly turns west.
