Dakshinkali is a municipality in Kathmandu District in the Province No. 3 of Nepal Nepal (; ne, :ne:नेपाल, नेपाल ), formerly the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal ( ne, सङ्घीय लोकतान्त्रिक गणतन्त्र नेपाल ), is a landlocked country in S ... that was established on 2 December 2014 by merging the former Village development committees Chalnakhel, Chhaimale, Sheshnarayan, Sokhel, Talku Dudechaur and Old-Dakshinkali. The municipality's name means 'Southern Kali' and refers to a several centuries old temple complex that lies in the vicinity. Population Dakshinkali municipality has a total population of 24,297 according to 2011 Nepal census. Dakshinkali Temple
Dakshinkali Temple, also Dakshin Kali Temple or Dakshina Kali Temple, located outside Kathmandu and about outside the village of Pharping, is one of the major Hindu temples in Nepal dedicated to the goddess Kali. Dakshin Kali is typically shown with her right foot on Shiva's chest—while depictions showing Kali with her left foot on Shiva's chest depict the even more fearsome Vamakali (typically shown with her left foot on Shiva's chest). Animal sacrifices, particularly of cockerels and uncastrated male goats, are the main way that the goddess is worshipped, and this is especially seen during the Dashain festival.Dakshin Kali Temple
