Common Interface
In Digital Video Broadcasting, the Common Interface
Common Interface
(also called DVB-CI) is a technology which allows decryption of pay TV channels. Pay TV stations want to choose which encryption method to use. The Common Interface
Common Interface
allows TV manufacturers to support many different pay TV stations, by allowing to plug in exchangeable CAM modules for various encryption schemes. The Common Interface
Common Interface
is the connection between the TV tuner (TV or set-top box) and the module (CAM) that decrypts the TV signal. The CAM module, in turn, then accepts the pay-to-view subscriber card, which contains the access keys and permissions. The host (TV or set-top box) is responsible for tuning to pay TV channels and demodulation of the RF signal, while CAM is responsible for CA descrambling. The Common Interface
Common Interface
allows them to communicate with each other

Integrated Circuit
An integrated circuit or monolithic integrated circuit (also referred to as an IC, a chip, or a microchip) is a set of electronic circuits on one small flat piece (or "chip") of semiconductor material, normally silicon. The integration of large numbers of tiny transistors into a small chip results in circuits that are orders of magnitude smaller, cheaper, and faster than those constructed of discrete electronic components. The IC's mass production capability, reliability and building-block approach to circuit design has ensured the rapid adoption of standardized ICs in place of designs using discrete transistors. ICs are now used in virtually all electronic equipment and have revolutionized the world of electronics
