Club Disney
Club Disney was a regional children's play center concept operated by Disney Regional Entertainment. The indoor centers were designed for families with children 9 and under with gift shops, various play areas and snack bars. The clubs were expected to change over time and to reflect the current Disney movie. History Disney Regional Entertainment was formed in 1996 to develop locally based entertainment concepts. Soon after the purchase of Capital Cities/ABC Inc., Disney CEO Michael Eisner moved forward with his idea of having local entertainment based on Disney brands in metropolitan and suburban areas. Several concepts were placed in the planning stage. Club Disney was the first to be launched, with birthday party reservations for its first location opening on January 15, 1997. Disney stand alone programming TV blocks are block of Disney shows on non-Disney channels or TV stations around the world. Disney puts together stand alone TV block to reach those audiences that do not have access to cable or satellite. By the end of March 2000, Disney was in 35 countries in three regions, Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific (13 countries) with 82 blocks with more than 9,000 hours total per year. Chandler is a city in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States, and a suburb in the Phoenix-Mesa-Chandler Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). Discovery Zone
Discovery Zone (DZ) was an American chain of entertainment facilities featuring games and elaborate indoor mazes designed for young children, including roller slides, climbing play structures, and ball pits. It also featured arcade games. A talking robot character named Z-Bop served as mascot to the chain. Ronald Matsch, Jim Jorgensen and Dr. David Schoenstadt founded Discovery Zone in 1989, with the first location opening in Kansas City, Missouri, in October 1989. An early investor in and vocal supporter of the company was tennis player Billie Jean King. Discovery Zone was also notable for being the first corporate sponsor of the PBS children’s program ''Sesame Street''. Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 by reservist Major Bill Hendricks. The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity located in Triangle, Virginia, serves to fund, raise funds for, and support the program. Major Bill Hendricks, USMCR, was inspired by his wife Diane when she tried to donate a homemade Raggedy Ann doll to a needy child but could not find any organization to do so.
