The chief justice of Afghanistan is the head of Afghanistan's supreme court. There have been multiple supreme courts throughout Afghanistan's history. Kabul

Faisal Ahmad Shinwari
Fazal Hadi Shinwari (1927 – February 21, 2011) was an Afghan cleric who served as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Afghanistan from 2001 until 2006. He was appointed to the post by Afghan President Hamid Karzai in accordance with the Afghan Constitution approved after the 2001 overthrow of the Taliban government. An ethnic Pashtun from Jalalabad, Afghanistan, he was a member of the Ittehad-al-Islami party. Shinwari died in February 2011 from stroke. Early years Shinwari was born in the Haska Mina village of Shinwar in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. He completed Islamic studies in Kabul and became a teacher at ''Ibn-i-Sina High School'' in 1954. A few years later he moved to Nangarhar and in 1974 he migrated to neighboring Pakistan. Judiciary Of Afghanistan
The judiciary of Afghanistan currently consists of the Supreme Court, appeals courts, civil courts and city courts. All justices of the appeals, civil and city courts are presided over by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Although some individuals received secular judicial training in the early 2000s, the majority of local court officials came from Muslim religious schools and lacked judicial skills. However, the nominal requirements for participation in the judiciary are relatively high, and the pay is quite low. Sayed Yousuf Halim
Sayed Yousuf Halim (1959 – 17 October 2022) was an Afghan judge. He was Chief Justice of Afghanistan, chief justice of Afghanistan from 2015 to 2021. He was born in 1959 in Nangahar Province. He worked for justice ministry from 1985. He became Deputy Minister of Justice for Administrative Affairs in 2009 then has been Deputy Minister of Justice for Legal Affairs from 2010 to 2014. He has been appointed as acting Justice Minister by President Hamid Karzai in 2014 then Chief Justice by President Ashraf Ghani on 27 July 2015. He went into exile after in August 2021 after 2021 Taliban offensive. He died in the Emirates' Humanitarian City in Abu Dhabi after a heart attack when he was in a mosque for performing evening prayer. Abdul Salam Azimi
Abdul Salam Azimi (born 1936 in Farah Province) is an Afghan judge who was the Chief Justice of Afghanistan and, as such, the head of the Afghan Supreme Court from May 2006 to October 2014, when he resigned his position. A former professor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in the United States, Azimi served as legal advisor to Afghan President Hamid Karzai and assisted with writing the 2004 Constitution of Afghanistan. He is an ethnic Pashtun of the Alizai tribe. Prior to the Soviet Invasion of 1979, Azimi and his family resided in the Kabul province of Afghanistan and were forced to flee the country in 1981 after the fall of the Communist regime and resulting civil war.
