Castilian War
The Castilian War took place in 1570-1578 and represented the last crusade in Islamic history between the Spanish Empire and the Sultanate of Brunei; the Sultanate of Sulu, the Sultanate of Maguindanao, and the Ottoman Caliphate. Sultan Saiful Rijal once sent a letter to Sultan Murad III to ask for help and continue diplomacy. In 1578, the Spanish army was successfully expelled from the State of Brunei. Spain also wanted to forcibly spread the acceptance of Christianity, the overwhelmingly dominant faith in Europe. Borneo (; id, Kalimantan) is the third-largest island in the world and the largest in Asia.
