Ivory Coast, also known as Côte d'Ivoire, officially the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, is a country on the southern coast of West Africa. Its capital is Yamoussoukro, in the centre of the country, while its largest city and economic centre is the port city of Abidjan. It borders Guinea to the northwest, Liberia to the west, Mali to the northwest, Burkina Faso to the northeast, Ghana to the east, and the Gulf of Guinea (Atlantic Ocean) to the south. Its official language is French, and indigenous languages are also widely used, including Bété, Baoulé, Dioula, Dan, Anyin, and Cebaara Senufo. In total, there are around 78 different languages spoken in Ivory Coast. The country has a religiously diverse population, including numerous followers of Christianity, Islam, and indigenous faiths. L'Abidjanaise
"" ( en, "The Song of Abidjan") is the national anthem of Ivory Coast. Adopted under law n°60–207 on 27 July 1960, its status as national anthem is enshrined in the constitution's 29th article. It takes the form of a lyric and very patriotic poem, invoking inspiring imagery expressing the greatness of the Ivorian soil and values such as hope, peace, dignity, and the "true brotherhood". Patrick Achi
Patrick Achi (born 17 November 1955) is an Ivorian politician who serves as Prime Minister of Ivory Coast since March 2021. A member of the Rally of the Republicans, he studied at Supélec and Stanford University and specialises in engineering and infrastructure. He has also worked as the government spokesman for President Alassane Ouattara. Early life and education Achi, born in Paris to an Ivorian father (from the Attié tribe located in the South region) and a French Breton mother. He was educated in France and the United States. Tiémoko Meyliet Koné (born 26 April 1949) is an Ivorian economist and politician. He has served as Vice-President of Ivory Coast since April 2022. Early life Koné was born 26 April 1949 in Tafiré. He is part of the Senoufo ethnic group. He is married and has 5 children. Career Koné joined the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) in 1975. He served as BCEAO National Director and Alternate Governor at the IMF from 1991 to 1998. Koné was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UEMOA Pension Fund (CRRAE-UEMOA) from 1996 to 2006.
