He changed his style and reached worldwide popularity with ''Born to Run'' in 1975. The Seeger Sessions
''The'' () is a grammatical article in English, denoting persons or things already mentioned, under discussion, implied or otherwise presumed familiar to listeners, readers, or speakers. It is the definite article in English. ''The'' is the most frequently used word in the English language; studies and analyses of texts have found it to account for seven percent of all printed English-language words. It is derived from gendered articles in Old English which combined in Middle English and now has a single form used with pronouns of any gender. The word can be used with both singular and plural nouns, and with a noun that starts with any letter. This is different from many other languages, which have different forms of the definite article for different genders or numbers. Pronunciation In most dialects, "the" is pronounced as (with the voiced dental fricative followed by a schwa) when followed by a consonant sound, and as (homophone of pronoun '' thee'') when followed by a ...

Devils & Dust
''Devils & Dust'' is the thirteenth studio album by American recording artist Bruce Springsteen, and his third acoustic album (after ''Nebraska'' and ''The Ghost of Tom Joad''). It was released on April 25, 2005, in Europe and the following day in the United States, where it debuted at No. 1 on the US ''Billboard'' 200 album chart. Background Springsteen revealed that many of the songs from ''Devils & Dust'' dated back a decade or more. He wrote "All the Way Home" for Southside Johnny to use in his album '' Better Days'' (1991). "Long Time Comin and "The Hitter" were written and performed on Springsteen's 1996 solo Ghost of Tom Joad Tour. " Devils & Dust" featured in soundchecks during The Rising Tour in 2003. The following year it was on the set list for at least one Vote for Change show, but was swapped out at the last moment for a 12-string guitar rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner", which he would later release for free through his official website. September 11 Attacks
The September 11 attacks, commonly known as 9/11, were four coordinated suicide terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda against the United States on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. That morning, nineteen terrorists hijacked four commercial airliners scheduled to travel from the Northeastern United States to California. The hijackers crashed the first two planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, and the third plane into the Pentagon (the headquarters of the United States military) in Arlington County, Virginia. The fourth plane was intended to hit a federal government building in Washington, D.C., but crashed in a field following a passenger revolt. The attacks killed nearly 3,000 people and instigated the war on terror. The first impact was that of American Airlines Flight 11. It was crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan at 8:46 a.m. Seventeen minutes later, at 9:03, the World Trade Cen ...

The Rising (album)
''The Rising'' is the twelfth studio album by American recording artist Bruce Springsteen, released on July 30, 2002, on Columbia Records. An immediate critical and commercial success, it was Springsteen's first to top the US ''Billboard'' 200 since '' Tunnel of Love'' (1987). Hailed as a triumphant return to form for Springsteen, the album won two Grammy awards and marked the start of a successful collaboration with producer Brendan O'Brien. ''The Rising'' came seven years after ''The Ghost of Tom Joad'' (1995), the longest interlude between studio albums for the artist, and was his first in almost two decades with the E Street Band, with whom he had recently completed a highly successful reunion tour. The album is based in large part on Springsteen's reflections in the aftermath of 9/11. Background and recording Springsteen was compelled to record the album when, in the aftermath of the attacks on September 11, 2001, a stranger in an adjacent vehicle rolled down his window and ...

Blood Brothers (EP)
''Blood Brothers'' is a five-song EP by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, released in 1996. The EP was originally released along with a film, also titled '' Blood Brothers'', which documented the 1995 temporary reuniting of Springsteen with the band to record extra tracks for his ''Greatest Hits'' release of that year. Long out of print, the EP was re-released in January 2014 to ITunes, Spotify and other download sites. Background Four of the five songs on the EP were written and recorded in 1995 during the band's ''Greatest Hits'' sessions while "Murder Incorporated" was recorded live at Tramps, NYC in February 1995. The 1995 sessions marked the first time since 1984 that Springsteen and the entire E Street Band recorded together. Part of the band had worked on Springsteen's 1987 album, '' Tunnel of Love'' before Springsteen split from the E Street Band in 1989. The title track was also released on the ''Greatest Hits'' album in an acoustic version. The studio version of ...

The Ghost Of Tom Joad
''The Ghost of Tom Joad'' is the eleventh studio album, and the second acoustic album, by American recording artist Bruce Springsteen, released on November 21, 1995, by Columbia Records. It reached the Top Ten in two countries, and the Top Twenty in five more, including No. 11 in the United States, his first studio album to fail to reach the US Top Ten in over two decades. It won the Grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Composition Springsteen wrote and recorded the album between March and September, 1995, at Thrill Hill West, his home studio in Los Angeles, California. Following that year's studio reunion with the E Street Band and the release of ''Greatest Hits'', Springsteen's writing activity had increased significantly, resulting in this album, which consists of seven solo tracks and five band tracks. Greatest Hits (Bruce Springsteen Album)
''Greatest Hits'' is the first compilation album by American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen, released February 27, 1995, on Columbia Records. It is a collection of some of Springsteen's hit singles and popular album tracks through the years along with four new songs at the end, mostly recorded with the E Street Band in 1995. The latter constituted Springsteen's first (albeit very partial) release with his backing band since the late 1980s. Some of the songs are shorter versions of the original album releases. The incorporation of the "new" tracks was portrayed in the 1996 documentary '' Blood Brothers''. "Murder Incorporated" and "This Hard Land" were, in fact, unused 1982 songs from the '' Born in the U.S.A.'' sessions, with the latter being re-recorded here more than a decade later, and both subsequently became Springsteen concert staples. "Blood Brothers", on the other hand, was played only as the final closing song of both the 1999–2000 Reunion Tour and 2002–2003 R ...

Lucky Town
''Lucky Town'' is the tenth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen. The album was released on March 31, 1992, the same day as Springsteen's '' Human Touch'' album. ''Lucky Town'' peaked at number three on the ''Billboard'' 200, with "Better Days" (paired with ''Human Touch''s title track) peaking at number one on the Mainstream Rock and number 16 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. ''Lucky Town'' has since sold more than one million copies in the United States. Background Springsteen was working on '' Human Touch'', which he intended to release sometime in 1990, but the project took him longer than he thought. He shelved the project in early 1991 and came back to it in September of the same year. Intending to record one more song for the album ("Living Proof"), he ended up with 10 new songs, which became ''Lucky Town''. Once he completed ''Lucky Town'', he decided to release both albums at the same time. While most of the songs from the album have received few ...

Human Touch
''Human Touch'' is the ninth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen. The album was released on March 31, 1992, the same day as '' Lucky Town''. It was the more popular of the two, peaking at number two on the US ''Billboard'' 200, with "Human Touch" (paired with ''Lucky Towns "Better Days") peaking at number one on the Mainstream Rock chart and number 16 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. "Human Touch" has since sold more than one million copies in the United States, and was nominated for Best Rock Vocal Performance at the 1993 Grammy Awards. Background Not long after Springsteen broke up the E Street Band in October 1989, pianist Roy Bittan played Springsteen three instrumental songs he had written: "Roll of the Dice", "Real World" and "Trouble in Paradise". Springsteen later added lyrics to the songs, and liked them to the point where he began writing and recording more songs. With the E Street Band gone—except for Bittan, who played keyboards and ...
