Brillante Mendoza
Brillante "Dante" Mendoza (born 30 July 1960) is a Filipino independent filmmaker. Mendoza is known one of the key members associated with the Filipino New Wave. Career He was born and raised in San Fernando, Pampanga. He took advertising arts of the College of Architecture and fine arts at the University of Santo Tomas. He has directed sixteen films since 2005, also he credited some cinematographer and production designer under his alias. His first frequent collaboration with actor Coco Martin in seven films including Masahista, Summer Heat, Foster Child, Tirador, Serbis, Kinatay, and Captive. On 25 July 2016, he directed the first State of the Nation Address of President Rodrigo Duterte. Mendoza also directed Duterte's second State of the Nation Address on 24 July 2017. 69th Venice International Film Festival
The 69th annual Venice International Film Festival, organized by Venice Biennale, took place at Venice Lido from 29 August to 8 September 2012. The festival opened with the Indian director Mira Nair's '' The Reluctant Fundamentalist'', and closed with the Out of Competition film ''The Man Who Laughs'', directed by Jean-Pierre Ameris. Terrence Malick's film '' To the Wonder'' was met with both boos and cheers from critics at its premiere. The Golden Lion for Best Film was won by ''Pietà'', directed by South Korean filmmaker Kim Ki-duk. Paul Thomas Anderson for '' The Master'' won the Silver Lion for Best Director. 2009 Cannes Film Festival
The 62nd Cannes Film Festival was held from 13 May to 24 May 2009. French actress Isabelle Huppert was the President of the Jury. Lavrente Indico Anciro Diaz (born December 30, 1958) is a Filipino independent filmmaker and former film critic. Frequently known as one of the key members of the slow cinema movement, having made several of the longest narrative films on record.
