Blue King Brown are an Australian urban roots ensemble formed in 2003 in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Byron Bay by mainstays Natalie Pa'apa'a, Nattali Rize and Carlo Santone. They have released three studio albums, ''Stand Up'' (October 2006), ''Worldwize Part 1 – North & South'' (August 2010) – which reached the ARIA Charts, ARIA Albums Chart top 50 – and ''Born Free'' (November 2014). They have toured nationally and internationally; and supported concerts by Santana (band), Santana, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Damian Marley, the John Butler Trio, the Cat Empire, Silverchair, Dispatch (band), Dispatch and Powderfinger. Triple J (stylised in all lowercase) is a government-funded, national Australian radio station intended to appeal to listeners of alternative music, which began broadcasting in January 1975. The station also places a greater emphasis on broadcasting Australian content compared to commercial stations. Triple J is a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. ARIA Award For Best Blues And Roots Album
The ARIA Music Award for Best Blues and Roots Album, is an award presented at the annual ARIA Music Awards, which recognises "the many achievements of Aussie artists across all music genres", since 1987. It is handed out by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA), an organisation whose aim is "to advance the interests of the Australian record industry." To be eligible, the recording must be an album in the contemporary and traditional blues genres, and contemporary adaptations of Australian traditional music and/or folklore. West Coast Blues & Roots Festival
The West Coast Blues 'n' Roots Festival is an annual music festival held in Fremantle, Western Australia. It features many blues and roots performers, both international and local. History The festival was founded by Sunset Events and began as a two-day event in 2004 and was called the 'Sunset Live's Botanic Blues, Roots and Soul' held at Kings Park, Western Australia. From 2005, the event became a one-day event and was known as the West Coast Blues & Roots held at the Esplanade Park, Fremantle. In 2007, the event expanded to a two-day event and followed on into 2008. The 2009 event saw a return to a single day format. In 2010, the festival moved to Fremantle Park and has been there since 2010. The Byron Bay Bluesfest, formerly the East Coast International Blues & Roots Music Festival, is an annual Australian music festival that has been held over the Easter long weekend in the Byron Bay, New South Wales, area since 1990. The festival features a large selection of blues and roots performers from Australia and around the world and is one of the world's leading contemporary music festivals. The 2006 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on Australia Day, 26 January 2007. It is the fourteenth such countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as voted by listeners of the Australian radio station Triple J. Voting began on 1 January 2007, and closed on 21 January. 671,024 votes were counted in this year's poll. The broadcast began at 10 a.m., and at midday, crossed to Hyde Park in Sydney for a live broadcast of the countdown, beginning at #75. The top 10 was announced from 6 p.m. by breakfast team Myf Warhurst and Jay and the Doctor.
