Benjamin Glazer
Benjamin Glazer (May 7, 1887 – March 18, 1956) was a screenwriter, producer, foley artist, and director of American films from the 1920s through the 1950s. He made the first translation of Ferenc Molnár's play ''Liliom'' into English in 1921. His translation was used in the original Broadway production, in the 1930 film version, and in every production in English of the play until recently. It also served as the basis for the libretto for Rodgers and Hammerstein's ''Carousel'', as well as for Phoebe and Henry Ephron's screenplay for the 1956 film version of the classic musical. Glazer was born in Belfast, Ireland, into a Hungarian Jewish family. After moving to the United States, he studied at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and passed the bar exam to become a lawyer in 1906. ''7th Heaven'' (also known as ''Seventh Heaven'') is a 1927 American silent romantic drama directed by Frank Borzage, and starring Janet Gaynor and Charles Farrell. The film is based upon the 1922 play '' Seventh Heaven'', by Austin Strong and was adapted for the screen by Benjamin Glazer. ''7th Heaven'' was initially released as a standard silent film in May 1927. On September 10, 1927, Fox Film Corporation re-released the film with a synchronized Movietone soundtrack with a musical score and sound effects. Upon its release, ''7th Heaven'' was a critical and commercial success and helped to establish Fox Film Corporation as a major studio. ''The Great Divide'' is a 1925 American silent drama film directed by Reginald Barker and produced and distributed by MGM. The film stars Alice Terry, Conway Tearle, and Wallace Beery. Sharon Lynn (born D'Auvergne Sharon Lindsay, April 9, 1901 – May 26, 1963) was an American actress and singer. She began playing in silent films but enjoyed her biggest success in the early sound years of motion pictures before fading away in the mid-1930s. She is perhaps best known for portraying Lola Marcel, the villainess in the Laurel and Hardy comedy feature, '' Way Out West''. Early years Lynn was born in Weatherford, Texas.
