BASA-press was a newsagency from the Republic of Moldova. Founded in November 1992, Moldova's oldest independent newsagency ceased its activity in December 2009. History BASA press was founded by a group of five journalists (including Vasile Botnaru) in Chişinău on 5 November 1992. The newsagency was the first independent news agency in the Republic of Moldova. Infotag was the second one, operating officially since 1 December 1993. BASA-press covered the entire range of political, social, economic, business and other events. On 31 December 2009, BASA-press, Moldova's oldest independent news agency closed down. Agency's ex-director Sergiu Ipati told the agency had been closed down because of the ongoing crisis. BASA Film
BASA Film (Bashgahe Cinema, meaning Afghanistan Cinema Club) is a nonprofit organization that promotes cultural development in Afghanistan. It is made up of artists and cultural activists from Afghanistan, and some voluntary artists from around the world, including skilled professionals in cinema, literature, photography and graphic design. The organization’s major activities include producing documentary and narrative films; launching and providing film training courses; organizing public screenings for special audiences; supporting foreign production teams inside Afghanistan; sending artists' work to international festivals; and organizing large cultural events in Kabul, such as film festivals. The Black and Asian Studies Association (BASA) was set up in London in 1991. Until October 1997 it was known as the Association for the Study of African, Caribbean and Asian Culture and History In Britain (ASACACHIB). Founder members who attended the inaugural meeting at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies on 5 February 1991 include Stephen Bourne, Jeffrey Green, David Killingray, Marika Sherwood and Hakim Adi. The Association was set up to foster research and to provide information on the history of Black peoples in Britain. This has been done through a triannual Newsletter - first published in September 1991 - and an annual conference. The British Atomic Scientists Association (ASA or BASA), was founded by Joseph Rotblat in 1946. It was a politically neutral group, composed of eminent physicists and other scientists and was concerned with matters of British public policy regarding applications and dangers of nuclear physics (including nuclear weapons and nuclear power). In so doing it also sought to inform fellow scientists and the public of the essential facts, usually via published papers and other documents. Basa (''Pangasius bocourti'') is a species of catfish in the family Pangasiidae. Basa are native to the Mekong and Chao Phraya basins in Mainland Southeast Asia. These fish are important food fish with an international market. They are often labelled in North America and Australia as "basa fish", "swai", or "bocourti". In the UK all species of '' Pangasius'' may legally be described as "river cobbler", "cobbler", "basa", "pangasius", "panga", or any of these with the addition of "catfish". Basa, Sudan
Basa (variation: Jabal Basa) is a village in Sudan. It lies northeast of Khartoum in Butana, upstream of Wadi Hawa, near Meroë and the Nile. Near Basa is a completely decayed temple which was excavated in 1907. It was built by Amanikhabale and probably dedicated to Apedemak, the lion-headed warrior god worshiped in Nubia by Meroitic peoples. Some fallen lion sculptures, each weighing two tons, were found by Francis Llewellyn Griffith. Cesar Basa Air Base, or simply Basa Air Base (formerly known as Floridablanca Airfield), is an airbase currently operated by the Philippine Air Force. It is located at Floridablanca, Pampanga about northwest of Metro Manila in the Philippines. It is named after César Basa, one of the pioneer fighter pilots of the Philippine Air Force. The base was built and used by the US Army Air Corps before the Second World War and was captured and used by the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force during the early stages of World War II. Allied military forces recaptured it during the later stages of the war.
