Bắc Giang
Bắc Giang () is a city in Vietnam. It is the capital of Bắc Giang Province. Its name, deriving from that of the Province Sino-Vietnamese, means "north of the river." The location is very convenient for transportation: it is 50 km north of Hanoi, in the middle position on major transportation routes (roads, international railway) connecting Hanoi with the Lạng Sơn City and Đồng Đăng international border gate; Bắc Giang is located in an important transportation hub. The Thương River runs through the town's southern part heading for Haiphong. Although the name of Bắc Giang (北江 "North River") Province is very old, established in its first form in 1466, there was historically no town of that name. The town was created out the old Láng Thượng District after independence. The Suối Mỡ thermal springs area is 37 km from the town centre. Provincial City (Vietnam)
Provincial city ( vi, Thành phố thuộc tỉnh), commonly known as City, a type of second tier subdivision of Vietnam is divided into 713 units along with urban district, district, municipal city, and town have equal status. Also by virtue of Decree No. 42/2009/ND-CP, city are officially classified into Class-1, Class-2 or Class-3. The cities can only subordinate to Province as the Second Tier unit. At the Third Tier, City is divided into wards and communes. Fact Cities are usually provincial urban and administrative centers. Some cities also was appointed provincial economic centers and the culture center of a region (between provinces). There might still agricultural population in the suburban of provincial cities. Provincial cities are divided into wards (within the inner city) and communes (within the suburban). Cities are equal level with counties, urban districts or towns, but larger and more important. Commune (Vietnam)
A commune (xã) is a type of third tier subdivision of Vietnam. It is divided into 11,162 units along with wards and townships, which have an equal status. Communes have a lower status than provincial cities, towns or districts. Facts Certain small villages are not officially regarded as administrative communes. As of December 31, 2008, Vietnam had 9,111 communes. Thanh Hoá Province contained the highest number of communes (586) amongst all province-level administrative units, followed by Nghệ An Province with 436 and Hanoi with 408. Đà Nẵng, with only 11 communes, contained the fewest.
