Australian Theatre For Young People
Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) is a not-for-profit national youth theatre company located in Woolloomooloo, New South Wales, Australia. It was founded in 1964 by Eleanor Witcombe. History The first committee was formed in 1964 and consisted of Alastair Duncan as chairman, Diana Sharpe as secretary, Nigel Lovell as treasurer as well as Ellis Irving, Owen Weingott and Wendy Blacklock. ATYP's first production was the comedy ''She Stoops to Conquer - Goldsmith Examined'' by Oliver Goldsmith, adapted and directed by Owen Weingott. Location Since 1997, ATYP was housed at The Wharf, Pier 4/5, but due to construction that started in July 2018, ATYP has temporarily relocated its office to Woolloomooloo. Their performance spaces are SBW Stable's Theatre, Riverside Theatres, Parramatta and The Joan, Penrith. Woolloomooloo
Woolloomooloo ( ) is a harbourside, inner-city eastern suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Woolloomooloo is 1.5 kilometres east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Sydney. It is in a low-lying, former docklands area at the head of Woolloomooloo Bay, on Sydney Harbour. The Domain sits to the west, the locality of East Sydney is near the south-west corner of the suburb and the locality of Kings Cross is near the south-east corner. Constance Lalage "Lally" Katz (born ) is an American and Australian dramatist writing for theater, film, and television. She now resides in Los Angeles. Early life Katz was born in New Jersey, United States. She was named for her aunt, Connie. When she was three she moved with her family to Miami, and then to Canberra when she was eight and three quarters. She moved to Melbourne when she was eighteen to attend university and pursue a career as a playwright. She graduated from the University of Melbourne’s School of Studies in Creative Arts. Daniel Wyllie (born 1970) is an Australian stage, film and television actor. Wyllie began acting in theatre. Early life Wyllie grew up on Sydney's North Shore. He attended North Sydney Boys High School and the University of New South Wales, where he studied arts for two years.
