Research and development of the M-60 began in 1956, and the first prototype has been produced in June 1958. Until the final serial production, the new armoured personnel carrier was known under the designation Objekat M-590. Serial production started in 1962, and M-60 has been publicly presented on Victory day parade, same year. The quality of the vehicles did not satisfy the requirements given by Yugoslav People's Army, so the FAMOS has started the development of upgraded model, OT M-60P (P - poboljšani - improved) which has been introduced in production in 1970

Bisera Turković (born 8 December 1954) is a Bosnian/Australian diplomat and politician. Born in the hamlet Gluha Bukovica near Travnik, she was the first ambassador appointed in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and she was the Bosnian ambassador to the United States, Mexico and Brazil (2005 to 2008). She holds a degree in Law and a degree in Criminal Justice Administration. She did her post graduate studies in Criminology and holds a PhD in International Relations. Career[edit] Her first assignments as ambassador were to Croatia (1993-1994), Hungary (1994-1996), and at Bosnia and Herzegovina's Permanent Mission to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe in Vienna (1996 to 2000) as well as to Bosnia and Herzegovina's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Vienna
