Andrew Hendy
Andrew Hendy was a Hereditary Chief of the Mosquito Reservation. He was proclaimed by the Nicaraguans on the death of his cousin George V, who died on 8 November 1888. He was repudiated by many people of the Miskitu Nation and abdicated in favour of his cousin Jonathan I, on 8 March 1889. He retired to Nicaraguan territory where he became a Miskitu Jefe Inspector and River Magistrate. He was subsequently chosen as a rival Chief by General Rigoberto Cabezas who deposed Robert Henry Clarence in 1894. He was reappointed for the third time and formally installed at the Government Palace, Bluefields, on 20 November 1894. George William Albert Hendy, Hereditary Chief of the Miskito Nation was the grandson of H.M. George Frederic Augustus I, King of the Miskito Nation. He was elected by the Council of State to succeed after the death of his cousin William Henry Clarence William Henry Clarence (1856–1879) was King, or Hereditary Chief, of the Miskito people, Miskito. Jonathan Charles Frederick, hereditary Chief of the Miskito Nation, was the son of Princess Matilda, who was the daughter of H.M. Robert Charles Frederic, King of the Miskito Nation, by a junior wife. Robert Henry Clarence
Robert Henry Clarence (6 September 1872 – 6 January 1908) also known as Robert II was the King of the Miskito Nation. He was born at the Public General Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. He was the last hereditary chief of the Miskito in 1890–1894 and briefly during July to August 1894. Clarence succeeded to the chiefdom on the death of his cousin Jonathan Charles Frederick, Hereditary Chief of the Miskito, in July 1890. Bluefields is the capital of the South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region, South Caribbean Autonomous Region in Nicaragua. Miskito People
The Miskitos are a native people in Central America. Their territory extends from Cape Camarón, Honduras, to Río Grande de Matagalpa, Nicaragua, along the Mosquito Coast, in the Western Caribbean Zone. Their population is estimated at 700,000 people as of 2021 according to the official Miskito Database. The Miskito people speak a native Miskito language, but many can also speak Miskito Coast Creole, Spanish, English, and German.
