Alma-Sofia Miettinen (born 17 January 1996), known professionally as Alma (stylised in all caps), is a Finnish singer and songwriter. Beginning her career in 2013, she placed fifth in the seventh season of the Finnish version of ''Idol''. Alma is a city in Crawford County, Arkansas, United States. It is located within the Arkansas River Valley at the edge of the Ozark Mountains; the city is the sixth largest in the Fort Smith metropolitan area. The population was 5,419 at the 2010 Census. Alexandra Maquet (, born 27 September 1988), known professionally as Alma, is a French singer and songwriter. She represented France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song "Requiem", finishing twelfth. Early life Alexandra Maquet (Alma) was born 27 September 1988 in Lyon as the eldest of four daughters to businessman Alain Maquet and the painter and contemporary artist Marie-Pierre Maquet, a.k.a. Alma is a small town in South Australia halfway between the Wakefield River, to the north, and River Light to the south. Alma, Alma South and Alma Plains were named for the cadastral Hundred of Alma in which they lie, which was in turn named after the Battle of the Alma, the site of an allied victory in the Crimean War. The Battle of the Alma (short for Battle of the Alma River) was a battle in the Crimean War between an allied expeditionary force (made up of French, British, and Ottoman forces) and Russian forces defending the Crimean Peninsula on 20September 1854. The allies had made a surprise landing in Crimea on 14September. The allied commanders, Maréchal Jacques Leroy de Saint-Arnaud and Lord Raglan, then marched toward the strategically important port city of Sevastopol, away. Alma is a civil parish on the Bay of Fundy in the southwestern corner of Albert County, New Brunswick, Canada. It comprises one village and one local service district (LSD), both of which are members of the Southeast Regional Service Commission. The most notable feature of the parish is Fundy National Park, which takes up a majority of the parish's area. The census subdivision of the same name includes all of the parish except the village of Alma, which forms its own census subdivision. The population of the parish CSD is so small that census numbers are rounded to maintain privacy. Alma, Ontario
Alma is an unincorporated rural community in Mapleton Township, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada. History Pioneers began settling along the Elora Saugeen Road, which forms the main street of Alma, during the 1840s. Alexander MacCrea and his wife settled here in 1848, and built a store. The "MacCrae's Corners" post office was established in 1854, and MacCrae was postmaster. In 1854, the settlement's name was changed from MacCrae's Corners to "Alma", after the Battle of Alma. James Ledingham and his family moved to Alma in 1864, and built a saw and chopping mill. In 1865, St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church was established in Alma. The church moved to a new stone church in Alma in 1892. The Wellington, Grey and Bruce Railway built a line through Alma in 1870. The line was eventually taken over by Canadian National Railway, and was abandoned in 1983. The Alma railroad station has since been destroyed. Alma ( 2011 Population 232, 2016 population 213) is a village in the parish of Alma, Albert County, New Brunswick, Canada. This village is centered on the small delta of the Upper Salmon River and Cleveland Brook, where they empty into Salisbury Bay.
