The western Indian state Gujarat has 33 districts after several splits of the original 17 districts at the formation of the state in 1960. Kutch is the largest district of Gujarat while Dang is the smallest. Ahmedabad is the most populated district while Dang is the least. There are 252 Talukas (subdivisions of districts) in Gujarat. 2011 Census Of India
The 2011 Census of India or the 15th Indian Census was conducted in two phases, house listing and population enumeration. The House listing phase began on 1 April 2010 and involved the collection of information about all buildings. Information for National Population Register (NPR) was also collected in the first phase, which will be used to issue a 12-digit unique identification number to all registered Indian residents by Unique Identification Authority of India. The second population enumeration phase was conducted between 9 and 28 February 2011. Census has been conducted in India since 1872 and 2011 marks the first time biometric information was collected. According to the provisional reports released on 31 March 2011, the Indian population increased to 1.21 billion with a decadal growth of 17.70%. Dholera
Dholera is a village in Ahmedabad district of Gujarat state in India. History Dholera was also an ancient port-city in Gulf of Khambhat, 30 km. from Dhandhuka village of Ahmedabad district. Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Dholera is one of the six temples built by Swaminarayan. Since 2011, the Government of Gujarat has been making plans to develop a smart city at Bhal area. The economic viability of the project has been questioned by farmer organisations. Mandal Taluka, Ahmedabad District
Mandal is a taluka of Ahmedabad District, India. History Mandal is a historical town. When, in 1347, the Emperor Muhammad bin Tughluq came to restore order in Gujarat, the Rana of Mandal and Patri, helped him and was honoured with robes and rewards. Again in 1395 Mandal must have been a place of some strength, for Muzaffar Shah of Gujarat Sultanate besieged it and would have failed to make any impression on it had not a pestilence broke out among the defenders. A few years later Jhala Satarsalji of Mandal was one of the chiefs who joined in the revolt against Sultan Ahmed Shah I (1414).
