1999 European Tour
The 1999 European Tour, titled as the 1999 PGA European Tour, was the 28th season of the European Tour, the main professional golf tour in Europe since its inaugural season in 1972. Changes for 1999 There were many changes from the previous season, with the addition of three new World Golf Championships, the Asian PGA Tour co-sanctioned Benson & Hedges Malaysian Open, the Estoril Open, the West of Ireland Golf Classic (also a Challenge Tour event), and the Scottish PGA Championship; and the loss of the Johnnie Walker Classic due to rescheduling from January to November, as well as the Cannes Open. The Open Novotel Perrier was also lost from the schedule as sponsors switched to support the Open de France; the Sarazen World Open, which had been discontinued as a result of the creation of the WGCs, was revived as a full tour event and took the dates on the calendar opposite the Cisco World Match Play Championship. Colin Montgomerie
Colin Stuart Montgomerie (born 23 June 1963) is a Scottish professional golfer. He has won a record eight European Tour PGA European Tour#Order of Merit winners, Order of Merit titles, including a streak of seven consecutive ones from 1993 to 1999. He has won 31 European Tour events, the most of any British player, placing him fourth on the List of golfers with most European Tour wins, all-time list of golfers with most European Tour victories. Montgomerie won three consecutive Volvo PGA Championships at Wentworth Club between 1998 and 2000. He has finished runner-up on five occasions in Men's major golf championships, major championships and his career-high Official World Golf Ranking, world ranking is second. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2013. After turning 50 in 2013, Montgomerie has had a successful career on the PGA Tour Champions and European Senior Tour, including winning three senior major championships. Sarazen World Open
The Sarazen World Open was a professional golf tournament, named in honor of seven-time major champion and hall of famer Gene Sarazen. It was held from 1994 to 1999. The field mostly consisted of national open winners from around the world from the previous two years. From 1996 to 1998, it was sponsored by Subaru and titled as the Subaru Sarazen World Open. The Sarazen World Open was an unofficial event on the PGA Tour and for the first five years was also an approved special event on European Tour; in its final year it became an official Order of Merit event on the European Tour.
