1986 FIFA World Cup
The 1986 FIFA World Cup was the 13th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial football tournament for men's senior national teams. It was played in Mexico from 31 May to 29 June 1986. The tournament was the second to feature a 24-team format. Colombia had been originally chosen to host the competition by FIFA but, largely due to economic reasons, was not able to do so, and resigned in 1982. Mexico was selected as the new host in May 1983, and became the first country to host the World Cup more than once, after previously hosting in 1970. The World Cup was won by Argentina (their second title, after winning in 1978). Argentina was captained by the 25-year-old Diego Maradona, who played a large part in his team's success by scoring his " Hand of God" goal, as well as another voted "Goal of the Century", in the same quarter-final against England. Julio Jorge Olarticoechea (born 18 October 1958) is an Argentine former footballer who played as a defender. Ricardo Omar Giusti (born 11 December 1956) is an Argentine former footballer. A midfielder, he played most of his career with Argentine side Independiente. At international level, he won the FIFA World Cup with Argentina in 1986 and was also a runner-up in the 1990 edition of the tournament. With 53 caps Giusti is currently 38th in the appearance records for the Argentina national football team. He played a part in five major tournaments for his nation. Oscar Garré
Oscar Alfredo Garré (born 9 December 1956) is an Argentine former professional footballer who played as a defender. Career Garré played most of his career (1974–88 and 1989–94) as a defender for Ferro Carril Oeste, and was part of the team that won the Nacional championships of 1982 and 1984. 1982's campaign saw Ferro finish the league without losing a single game. Garré played for the Argentina national team, he was part of the squad that won the 1986 World Cup. In 1994, he went to Israel, where he played for Hapoel Kfar Saba and Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the local football league. He retired in 1996, aged almost 40.
