Academic Decathlon
In March 2023 the Wilmot Academic Decathlon team won its tenth consecutive state title, each of which qualified the team to participate in the national competition. The school has won five Division II national championships in 2015, 2016, 2019, 2021, and 2023. The team was established in 2002 Wilmot Academic Decathletes have earned over $30,000 in combined direct scholarships and the team has been awarded $22,500 for winning state championships. One-third of all state records compiled for over 40 years are held by Wilmot decathletes. Wilmot holds the team records for highest scores in both Social Science and Literature. Decathletes from Wilmot have been the overall top individual scorer at state 8 times: 2023- Isaac Keen 8,708 2022-Isaac Keen 8,516.6 2021-Anna Carroll 8,698 2020-Marcus Wolff 8,728 pts. 2019-Sean O’Dowd 8,746.1 pts. 2016-Carl Simmons 8,858 pts. 2015-Carl Simmons 8,780 pts. 2014-Katie O'Brien 8,292 pts. And have produced the top scorer in Division II at Nationals six times: 2023-Isaac Keen 8,843 pts. 2022- Isaac Keen 8,475 pts. 2019-Marcus Wolff 8,806 pts. 2016-Carl Simmons 8,925 pts. 2015-Carlie Banchi 8,794 pts. 2014-Katie O'Brien 8,606 pts. The team has been honored by all levels of government from U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, U.S. Representative and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Brian Steil, Governor Scott Walker, State Senator Van Wanggaard, State Representative Samantha Kerkman, and by Kenosha County officials and the several local communities that make up the Wilmot Union School District.Music
* The Wilmot Guardsmen Marching Band includes all members of the Wilmot band program. * The Wind Ensemble is an honors class made up of sophomores, juniors and seniors in the Wilmot band program. Membership is by audition only. * The Panther Band and Red & White Concert Bands are open to all instrumental music students at Wilmot High School. * The Jazz Ensemble is open to all sophomores, juniors and seniors in the Wilmot band program who are enrolled in one of the large ensembles. * String Orchestra is open to all students who play violin, viola, cello or stringed bass. * Small Pop Ensemble is a contemporary music ensemble made up entirely of students. The students create the music, rehearse and perform as a working band. The mission of the class is to offer college entrance level music theory to the students of Wilmot High School. The students then put that knowledge into practice to create the band. Small Pop Ensemble performs for the Wilmot Student Body, at the dinner concert "SENSATION" and tours the area grade schools. On June 11, 2011, a student-led pop group won a statewide WSMA Battle Of The Bands competition, "The Les Paul Launchpad Competition", and earned the school's band program $5,000. The music department used the money to purchase four Yamaha electric pianos, and has obtained approval from the school board to create The Chase Promenade Midi and Piano Laboratory to house these instruments.
