William Ford Nichols was born in

on June 9, 1849. He graduated from
Berkeley Divinity School Berkeley Divinity School, founded in 1854, is a seminary of The Episcopal Church in New Haven, Connecticut. Along with Andover Newton Theological School and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, Berkeley is one of the three "Partners on the Quad," ...
in 1873. He married Clara Quintard on May 18, 1876. William Ford Nichols was consecrated as Coadjutor Bishop of California on June 24, 1890. He became the diocesan bishop in 1893. Nichols died at St. Luke's Hospital in San Francisco on June 5, 1924.
