Early life

Wright was born in
Montgomery, Alabama Montgomery is the capital city of the U.S. state of Alabama and the county seat of Montgomery County. Named for the Irish soldier Richard Montgomery, it stands beside the Alabama River, on the coastal Plain of the Gulf of Mexico. In the 202 ...
, and he grew up in a Montgomery County community known as Grady. He attended Goshen High School. He was selected by the
Los Angeles Dodgers The Los Angeles Dodgers are an American professional baseball team based in Los Angeles. The Dodgers compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) West division. Established in 1883 in the city of Brooklyn ...
in the 7th round of the 2003 Major League Baseball Draft. He had a scholarship offer from the

On November 11, 2017, it was announced Wright had decided to retire and take a job as a pro scout with the Minnesota Twins.
