The name of the township is named after the Weixi River ().

. It has a total area of , of which is land and is water. The highest point in the township is Mount Huangmajie () which stands above sea level. There are 462 streams and creeks in the township, including Weixi River. Weixi Reservoir () is the largest body of water in the township.
