Adventure Communications, Inc. was granted the original construction permit for this station on February 19, 1980. The station became licensed on June 17, 1981. The station's callsign was changed from WCBV and WBDY on September 16, 1985; to WHYS on November 22, 1993; and back to WBDY on May 30, 1997. WBDY went silent on February 1, 2009 for financial reasons, and notified the
