Prior to Gen Digital Inc., Pilette served as CFO of Logitech for six years, and Chief Financial Officer at Electronics for Imaging for almost three years. Before that, he spent 14 years at HP in roles including CFO of the HP Enterprise group and CFO of the HP Software group. Pilette joined NortonLifeLock (then known as Symantec) in May 2019 as CFO. Pilette was appointed CEO in November 2019, replacing interim CEO Richard Hill. Pilette served as a CFO for a total of 10 years before stepping into the CEO seat. As CEO, Pilette has focused on positioning NortonLifeLock as a "comprehensive cyber safety portfolio for consumers" that includes device security, identity and online privacy protection.
