History

The settlement was first called "Cumminstown", named for the Cummins family, early settlers who had purchased land in the area in 1755 and remained in the area until 1880.Cummins, George Wyckoff

This is the original seat of this branch of the Cummins family in Warren county, and the property remained in possession of some member of the family for a century and a quarter, or until Wesley Cummins sold it about 1880.... Four of his children—Christeon, Philip, John F. and Mrs. George Beatty - settled at Cumminstown, now Vienna."
