Vasily Viktorovich Papin (

Russian chess Grandmaster.
Chess career
In his younger years, Papin competed in numerous national and international junior tournaments including the
European Youth Chess Championship, the
World Youth Chess Championship, and the
World Junior Chess Championship in

Nouméa, and finished equal first in the 2013 Australasian Masters GM tournament in
Melbourne.

Papin has played in the Icelandic Team Championship and has represented SV1930 Hockenheim in the German chess Bundesliga. His highest ever FIDE rating was 2583 in September 2011. In recent years, he has been a frequent visitor to Australia and participated in a number of Australian Chess Tournaments,including Australian Masters and Australian Open Championships.
