The volost was abolished on , 1841, when volosts of Arkhangelsk Governorate's uyezds were enlarged. Varzuzhskaya Volost, along with Umbskaya Volost and the territory of the
Terskaya Lapps, became a part of new
Kuzomenskaya Volost.
