Choctaw language meaning "young warrior".
Variant names include "Tuscalameta", "Tuscalamita Creek", "Tushalamita", and "Tuskala Mita Creek".
In 1924, the Tuscolameta Creek received a 24 mile channelization to empty into the Pearl River.
