History
The station was first opened by the
Taff Vale Railway
The Taff Vale Railway (TVR) was a standard gauge railway in South Wales, built by the Taff Vale Railway Company to serve the iron and coal industries around Merthyr Tydfil and to connect them with docks in Cardiff. It was opened in st ...
in late 1841 though it did not appear in Bradshaw's timetables until 1844. It was named Troedyrhiew from 1846/47 until 1 July 1924 when it became Troedyrhiw. The hyphens were added on 12 May 1980.
