History

Trent was laid out in 1874. It is located along the historic Milwaukee Railroad line. Trent was formerly called Brookfield, but it was renamed in 1886 to avoid confusion with another town on the same railroad route. In 1903, Trent relocated east of the railroad due to flooding.
