The Tis Hazari metro station was one of the first six metro stations on
Delhi Metro's network. The DMRC had begun its commercial operations on December 25, 2002, a day after then prime minister
Atal Bihari Vajpayee had inaugurated its first stretch spanning 8.2 kilometres from
Shahdara to Tis Hazari on the Red Line.
