Personal life

Darvill was born and raised in the

and has continued to contribute to the local archaeology scene including being chairman of Cotswold Archaeology. He is a keen guitarist and plays lead guitar in a band known as the Standing Stones, with several other archaeologists including Paul Cheetham, Bronwen Russell and Kevin Andrews of Bournemouth University.
