Biography

Thoeun Theara is originally from Prey Veng Province. From a young age, his life began modestly as he spent years working as a labourer in

with his parents. In 2013, when Theara was 15, after a visit of his hometown in Prey Veng in Cambodia with his parents, the family decided to stay in Cambodia and worked making

s. Later in life, he began training and competing. He is nicknamed "Puthao Day Pi Kheat," which means "The Killer Axe."


Career

On July 16, 2003, for his return to the ring after breaking his right arm on April 2023, Thoeun Theara defeated Romanian Alex Bublea, at the 72 kg weight class to win the Techo Santepheap Kun Khmer World Championship belt. 500,000 viewers watched the live stream of the event on social media.
