Early life and high school

Johnson was born on February 26, 2001, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and grew up in Windsor, Ontario. He attended Holy Names High School, where he played Canadian football. Johnson was selected to play in the 2020 Under Armour All-America Game, but did not play in the game after suffering an injury in a pregame practice.
