Takoradi is one of the Constituency, constituencies represented in the Parliament of Ghana. It elects one Member of Parliament, Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah is the member of parliament for the constituency. He was elected on the Ticket (election), ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won a majority of 11,043 votes to become the Member of Parliament, MP. The former Member of Parliament, MP for the constituency was Hon. Madam Gladys Asma. Who retired from active politics before the 2008 parliamentary elections.
