candidate in 1979. He served as the president of Supreme Court Bar Association and the Nationalist Lawyers' Forum. Khan was married to Raushan Ara Jobaida Khanam. They had three sons and one daughter. Their eldest son Afzal H. Khan was also elected to parliament. Jobaida died in 2011 at the age of 69. Khan turned 100 in October 2020, and died from pneumonia in Dhaka on 16 January 2022, at the age of 101. He was buried at Outi, his ancestral village in Haluaghat Upazila of Mymensingh District.
