Two varieties are accepted. *''Suchtelenia calycina'' var. ''acanthocarpa'' – Turkmenistan *''Suchtelenia calycina'' var. ''calycina'' – Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. It has 3 known synonyms; ''Suchtelenia cerinthifolia'' , ''Suchtelenia eriophora'' and ''Suchtelenia uniserialis'' .
