Gameplay

Standoff 2 is a classical first-person shooter game with multiple different gamemodes and modern Russian and non-Russian weapons. Each weapon has different characteristics, divided into the following categories: damage, fire rate, recoil control, range accuracy, movement rate, armor penetration and penetration power. Multiple gamemodes are available, such as Defuse, Team Deathmatch and Escalation. Reaching level 15 unlocks the "Allies" mode and reaching level 20 unlocks the "Competitive" mode.''Letsky, Svyatoslav.'

Unlike most mobile shooters, in Standoff 2 there is no auto-shooting and aiming assistance, but at the same time there is also a flexible control setting: the ability to move, change the visibility and size of most of the interface elements. Only decorative items that do not affect the gameplay are sold for real money in the game.

Gamemodes

Defuse

10 Players in two teams of five players (Counter-Terrorists (CT) and Terrorists (T)) play on one of the six maps available for this gamemode. The goal of the Terrorist team is to plant the bomb on one of the two planting zones and to defend the bomb until it explodes. The Counter-Terrorists have to fight the Terrorists and defuse the bomb before it explodes. Players spawn in dedicated spawning points for their team at opposite sides of the map. Depending on the kills achieved by a player in a round, the player gets rewarded with money which he can use to buy new weapons that are available for his team. Weapons have limited ammo and can run out of ammo. After dying in-game, the players can not respawn until the next round starts. The game runs for 15 matches with no chance for the result being a draw. The first team to reach 8 points wins.

Team Deathmatch

Up to 10 Players in two teams play on one of the six maps available for this gamemode. Players respawn instantly after being killed. The goal of both teams is to get more total kills than the other team in 5 minutes. Players have infinite ammo and can select any weapons available for their team. Players spawn in dedicated spawning points for their team at opposite sides of the map.

Arms Race

Two teams play against each other but only one player from the team can win. Instead of a weapon selection there is a level system that gives the player a different weapon depending on the match level of the player. To increase the match level, the player has to do two kills with the current weapon without dying. Alternatively, the player can use a knife, which is available at all times, to instantly increase the level. If the player reaches level 20, the match ends with that player as the winner. The maps are the same as in "Team Deathmatch". The levels and the respective weapons are the following: # MP5 / MP7 # MAC-10 / UMP-45 # P90 # FABM # SM1014 # SPAS # FNFAL / FAMAS # AKR / M4 # M16 / AKR12 # M60 # AWM # M110 # M40 # G22 / USP # P350 # Dual Berretas # F/S / TEC-9 # Desert Eagle # Knife

Escalation

Similarly to "Defuse", four players on the Counter-Terrorists team and three players on the Terrorists team spawn near one of the two planting zones. Each player gets to select one loadout before starting the round. The bomb has been already planted and the goal of the Terrorists team is to defend the bomb and the Counter-Terrorists to defuse the bomb. The game runs for 15 matches with no chance for the result being a draw. The first team to reach 8 points wins. The maps are the same as in "Defuse".

Training

A special gamemode, where players can improve their skills with every weapon. The player can configure static or moving targets to a desired difficulty and try to gain as many kills as possible in 1 minute. The player can also train to deal the most damage from any distance with any weapon with a dummy and a damage points indicator.

Temporary Gamemodes

Seasonal Gamemodes

Each seasonal update since 0.10.4 included a thematic gamemode (

) that was only playable for a short time period. One of the most popular seasonal gamemodes were "Mad Santa" (also known as

Event). The gamemode included a Santa hat that let a player transform into "Mad Santa", a player with 2000 Health (game terminology), HP instead of the usual 100 and a snowball, which worked similar to a grenade, and a candy cane, which worked like a knife, as the weapons. The other players had to defeat Santa to pick up the hat left behind and become the next Santa. The player who gained the most points as "Mad Santa" won the round. Another popular gamemode was "Survival Mode", a gamemode that replaced the Terrorists team with the Zombies team. The zombies use deal damage using their hands instead of weapons and can jump higher than the Counter-Terrorists. The gamemode was introduced during the Competitive Update (0.11.1), set on a nighttime version of the Rust map, and returned in form of "Soul Hunt" mode (0.17.0) with Yōkai instead of Zombies, set on a nighttime Halloween-themed version of the Sakura map. The mode returned once again in form of "Zombie Infestation" mode (0.21.0), set on the "Encounter" map.

User-Selected Gamemodes

Since October 25, 2022, Axlebolt has let the players vote for a custom game mode, often including changes to Health (game terminology), HP, player speed, gravity and weapon loadouts. Players can vote in the official Discord Server, Telegram (software), Telegram channel and VKontakte page.

Ranked Gamemodes

Competitive

Unlocked with account level 20, "Competitive" mode is a ranked version of the "Defuse" gamemode. Unlike "Defuse", this gamemode requires players to purchase a vest and helmet to increase armor points instead of having complete armor at the start of the game. Players on team Counter-Terrorists have to also purchase a Defuse Kit to be able to defuse the bomb. To win, a team must score 10 points. After 9 rounds, the team sides are switched. Players are unable to switch teams during the game. If a player is not helpful, the team can vote to kick him out. If the majority of players decides to kick the player out, that player will be forcibly removed from the game and get a temporary ban from competitive games. If a player leaves a competitive match voluntarily, he also gets a temporary ban. The maps and goal of the game are the same as in "Defuse". After each game, a player gains or loses Matchmaking rating, MMR points depending on the matchmaking rating system.

MMR System

For the first 10 matches of "Competitive" mode and "Allies" mode, a player has no rank. After those, the player is assigned an initial rank. After each game in the two ranked gamemodes, a player gains or loses points depending on one of three factors: 1. Total MMR of a team
If a team has more MMR than the other, each member of that team gains less and loses more points in each round of the game. 2. The amount of players in each team
If a team has more members, each member of that team gains less and loses more points in each round of the game. 3. Personal performance
If a player was useful for the team in a round, meaning that the player helped defeat the enemies and helped with defusal or planting of the bomb, that player gains more MMR in that round. If the player was not useful for the team, the player loses points in that round. The rank of a player is divided into a "Competitive" rank and an "Allies" rank, meaning that a player has two ranks at a time. After each season, the player loses his ranks and has to recalibrate them by playing 10 calibration matches in both gamemodes again. The assignment of each rank by MMR is the following:

Reception

Critics often compare Standoff 2 to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and call it a mobile clone.''Singh, Sushant Rohan.'
Axlebolt’s Standoff 2 Review: Counter Strike on Mobile and it is Good
/ref> Sushant Rohan from PCQuest called the game the best mobile adaptation of CS:GO and an ideal First-person shooter, FPS game and praised good frame rate, enjoyable gameplay, good weapon skins and strong protection against cheaters and hackers. Sushant noted that the game may not be optimized enough, as some players experience slow performance in the game, but in his opinion that is typical for any multiplayer mobile game, or the freeze is due to the fact that Standoff 2 is not designed to work on MediaTek devices. In the third quarter of 2021, Standoff 2 entered the top three most profitable games on the Russian mobile game market.Россияне провели в приложениях 4,3 часа в день в 3 квартале 2021 года
