According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.0 square miles (93.4 km), of which 35.6 square miles (92.1 km) is land and 0.5 square mile (1.2 km) (1.33%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 490 people, 169 households, and 138 families residing in the township. The population density was 13.8 people per square mile (5.3/km).
