In 1967, ''Spectrochimica Acta'' was split into two journals, '' Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy'' and ''Spectrochimica Acta Part B: Atomic Spectroscopy''. Part B obtained its current title around the time of the split.
