The districts are grouped below for descriptive convenience into a "Northern zone" comprising the heavily populated areas suburban to Bandar Lampung city, and a "Southern zone" comprising the areas to the southeast of Bandar Lampung; these zones have no administrative significance. The table also includes the locations of the district administrative centres, the number of administrative villages (rural ''desa'' and urban ''kelurahan'') in each district and its post code.
