and built a new house at Somersall. The new house was built in 1763 on the site of an earlier 17th-century house and incorporates some of the early features. The new work created a three-storey three-bayed house with an east-facing entrance front. In the 19th century a two-storey wing was added to the north of the frontage. A gazebo (possibly originally part of the house) is Grade II* listed and the gatepiers in front of the house are listed at Grade II. Sutton became the family seat and Somersall was let out as a farmhouse.
